Looking To Start An Affiliate Marketing Blog?

It seems like a dream, waking up and not having to hurry out of the house. More and more people are doing it! Why can’t you? I’m talking about working from home, and yes, there are many real ways to make money from home. No matter if you are broke or if you are clueless about where to begin, almost everyone can find something that will work for them.

5 Real Ways to Make Money From Home When You’re Broke & Clueless

Don’t get reeled into scams and work-from-home gigs that will only waste your time or even rob of you of money you don’t have. Here are five real ways to make money from home…

Create a Course About Something You’re Good at

We all have things we are good at and it can be fun and rewarding to pass that knowledge on to others. These days, creating a course is incredibly easy, and there are so many different software platforms available to help you do it.

Here are three different ways you could go about it:

Creating Your Course on YouTube

The easiest way is just to record yourself teaching your course with your phone and upload them to YouTube (using the Private setting so that people need a URL to access it). Then, you can just use PayPal to sell the course and send your students the links to the videos in an email.

The most difficult part of this scenario is that you will need to find people to purchase your course, which is what makes the next option really nice.

Create a Course on Udemy

Udemy has a whole platform that is built for creating courses, and the really cool part is that when you create a course on Udemy, it gets listed in their Marketplace. That means that you don’t have to find potential students; they’ll find you.

Sell a Course on Your Own Site

If you’re “clueless” as the title of this article implies, then this might not be something you want to get into, but I wanted to mention it in case the idea intrigues you. There are many easy ways to create a website, such as using website builders like Wix, Squarespace, or even GoDaddy. Of course, we love WordPress, but there is a learning curve with it.

Once you’ve got a basic site built, you can upload your videos right to your website and create a student login so that the course is only accessible once they have purchased your course. You could even use a platform like Teachable or Thinkific to create a really professional-looking course.

Do Product Reviews

Many people search online for reviews of products before they buy them. This is good news for people who want to work from home because you can actually make some nice money doing product reviews. Here’s how you do it…

Brainstorm What to Review

Make a list of all the products you love. Think software, electronics, subscription services like Hello Fresh or StitchFix – anything that people want to learn more about before purchasing.

You can also do a little research to see what people are searching for by typing “a-review” in the search field on Google (without the quotation marks). As you type, you will start to see a list of key phrases about reviews that people are searching for starting with the letter A. Then, change the A to B, then C, and so forth to see what comes up.

Affiliate Marketing With No Money Tip

Become an Affiliate of the Products

Next, you’ll want to sign up to be an affiliate for the product(s) you want to do a review on. Not every company has an affiliate program, but a lot of them do.

Once you sign up, you’ll receive a link that is unique to you, and that is the link you want to use to promote the product because when someone purchases the product using that link, you’ll receive a commission. Here are some tips on choosing the best affiliate programs to promote.

Post Your Review

After you’ve chosen a product to review and have become an affiliate, you’ll need to decide how you want to do your reviews. The most popular methods are videos and articles.

If you plan to do your reviews through video, starting a YouTube channel is the way to go. If you want to write articles, you’ll want to have a blog. Either way, you can promote your reviews on social media as well.

Be a YouTuber

While the above strategies can include some YouTube videos, what we are talking about here is being an actual YouTuber, i.e. someone who earns their living off of the ads that are played during their videos. A lot of parents are earning quite a decent living from being a YouTuber, and it usually revolves around having a YouTube channel for kids.

Examples of YouTubers of Kid Channels

Extreme Toys TV – This is a pretty cool channel and the whole family gets involved. Back in the day, they started off making videos that reviewed toys, but it has transformed into a full-blown production. They write their own movie scripts, act it out, edit it, and they are always moving into newer and bigger houses, so they must be killing it!Ways to Work From Home - Be a YouTuber Example 1
Blippi – Blippi started out just making educational videos for kids, but now he is a big deal and kids love him. It’s now a big production that goes way beyond what most people can put together when they’re working from home, but it certainly didn’t start out that way.

Be a YouTuber Example 2

Ryan ToyReview – This channel has an INSANE amount of subscribers. The whole family gets involved but they keep it much simpler than Extreme Toys TV does. They review toys by playing with them. Honestly, these videos can get a little annoying but kids love them, and they are certainly easy enough to make.

Be a YouTuber Example 3

Genevieve’s Playhouse – This is another channel that is doing extremely well and the funny part is that the majority of their videos are just the dad playing with toys. All you see is his hands as he plays with toys. This is certainly an easy type of video to make.

Be a YouTuber Example 4

AshtonKTube – This is actually my YouTube channel. We started it as a summer project for the family. Ashton (our littlest) is the star and one of our older son’s did most of the editing. We haven’t had a lot of time to put into it since then, but if we would have kept up with it, it could be doing really well by now.

Be a YouTuber Example 5

Here’s how you do can work from home by being a YouTuber…

Create Videos Every Week

The one absolute essential component of being a YouTuber is creating weekly videos. In fact, in the beginning, you might want to create a couple videos a week. YouTube is a numbers game. Some videos you put out won’t take off; others will, so you need to keep putting out videos to get your numbers up there. Plus, YouTube’s algorithm favors channels that are putting out consistent content.

Work to Get 1000 Subscribers

You can’t monetize your channel until you have at least 1000 subscribers so that needs to be one of your primary goals. Here’s a video that will help you do that in 30 days…

Start a blog

Another example of one of the best real ways to make money from home is to be a blogger. Especially if you enjoy writing, this can be one of the most rewarding ways to earn a living since you can make it completely yours. You can write about what you want and really dig into a topic that interests you (as long as you choose a niche that other people are also interested in).

Here are some great examples…

100 Days of Real Food – This blogger set out to make an impact by creating her blog about her family’s pledge to go 100 days without eating any processed foods or refined ingredients. She offers an invitation to other families to do the same and provides recipes and tips to help them do that.

Tech Savvy Mama – This mom took her experience in classroom technology integration and school administration to put a unique spin on a blog idea. She writes about parenting in the digital age.

Blogger Example 2

For the Love of a House – This blogger took a spin on her own life and created a blog that she describes as, “The story of our journey turning a once unloved antique farmhouse into our home.” She shares a lot of small space decorating tricks.

Blogger Example 3

Here are some tips to help you start a blog so that you can work from home…

Take it in Stages

One thing about blogging is that it can be really overwhelming because there is a lot to learn. But it doesn’t have to be that way all at once. The best thing to do is just to get started and learn more in stages so you don’t get overwhelmed and want to quit.

  • Focus first on just choosing a niche and researching what other bloggers in that niche are doing.
  • Then, work on some branding ideas and article topics.
  • Then, choose a website platform, such as WordPress.org. Choose a simple website theme and focus on keeping the site super simple at first.
  • Then start writing.
  • Don’t even think about monetizing until you have at least 10-20 articles on your site.
  • Then, you can learn about SEO (search engine optimization) to get more eyes on your blog.
  • Then, link to some affiliate offers and dropshipping products from your articles.

Write About Something You Are Passionate About

It can seem tempting to fall into a niche that you aren’t passionate about just because you know it is a money-maker. But that will only land in failure because you’ll just be putting out cookie-cutter content. When you write about something you are passionate about, not only will you have so much more fun, but your articles will be more unique because you’ll put your own spin on them.

Expand Your Blog

After you’ve got your basic blog up and running, you’ll start to learn more and more. Then, you’ll start expanding your blog in new and exciting ways. For example, you might consider doing some sponsored posts or creating your own digital products to sell on your site. The possibilities are endless!

Get a Remote Job

I definitely prefer the other four ways I have listed above for making money from home because they allow you to earn passive income. But if you need immediate cash, there are some legitimate remote jobs that you might consider, such as:

  • Being a virtual assistant
  • Freelance writing or graphic design
  • Proofreading
  • Be a transcriptionist
  • Social media manager

Flexjobs.com, powertofly.com, and remotegurus.com are some great resources for finding a remote job. Aside from the jobs listed above, a lot of companies are now offering remote jobs in many different job roles, and these sites can help you find them.
